The cycle caused by Summer and Autumn disappearing ravaged the lands, yes, causing Spring and Winter to struggle together in passing the world back and forth; The land was constantly coated in snow and fresh blooms, and so, from those blooms came Natus Nivis. By all accounts, he's the son of Snocus and Spirit, and is treated as such by them.
